Meet Melissa Gibbs, ND
Doctor of Traditional Naturopathy
Naturopath. Mother. Educator. Guide.
Root-cause naturopathic support for women seeking deeper answers, emotional safety and a more compassionate path forward.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Lived Experience
A practice shaped by decades of personal healing, learning to listen to the body and finding a way back from survival mode.
Returning to Yourself
A compassionate path toward rebuilding the body, steadying the nervous system, reclaiming nourishment and reconnecting with your needs.
I came to this work through decades of lived experience as a woman walking through her own healing journey, learning to listen to her body again and slowly finding her way back from years of survival mode.
I know what it feels like to search for answers in the dark. I know the research rabbit holes, the fear, the burnout, the body signals that do not make sense and the quiet ache of wondering if you are doing enough. I also know what it feels like to begin again, to rebuild the body, steady the nervous system, reclaim nourishment and return to yourself after years of feeling disconnected from your own needs.
This is why I do this work.
My path into naturopathy was shaped by both personal healing and motherhood.
For many years, I was searching for answers for my own body, my nervous system, for my relationship with nourishment and for the child I love deeply. My son’s complex health journey became one part of that path, leading me into years of research, advocacy, conferences, mentorship and a deeper understanding of the many layers that can influence how a person feels.
But this work was never only about him. It was also about the woman I became along the way. The woman who was exhausted. The woman who kept showing up. The woman who poured herself into everyone else while her own body, nervous system and spirit quietly asked when it would be her turn.
What Matters Here
At the Heart of This Work
The kind of practitioner I once needed.
I wanted to become the kind of practitioner I once needed. Someone who could hold space with compassion, look beneath the surface with curiosity and help illuminate a path forward when everything felt overwhelming.
The Woman Who Carries It All
There is a kind of woman who learns to survive by becoming everything everyone else needs.
She becomes the strong one. The capable one. The one who keeps going. The one who anticipates everyone’s needs, carries the invisible weight, researches the answers, manages the emotions, pushes through the symptoms and tells herself she will rest when everything finally settles.
I know that woman.
I See You
I know what it feels like to live outside of yourself for so long that your own body becomes the last place you know how to listen. I know the quiet cost of running on fumes, overriding your needs, dismissing your symptoms and believing that your care can wait.
And I want you to hear this clearly: I see you.
Not just the polished version of you.
Not just the productive version of you.
Not just the woman who keeps showing up.
I see the exhausted woman underneath.
The woman who needs care.
The woman whose body has been calling for attention.
Healing as Reclamation
Your healing is not a luxury.
Your restoration is not an afterthought.
Your body is not the price you have to pay for loving others, achieving more, keeping peace or holding everything together.
Your health is foundational.
When you begin to restore yourself, you are not taking away from the people or life you love. You are becoming more rooted, more resourced, more present and more fully yourself.
This is where healing becomes reclamation.
Education and Experience
Education & Naturopathic Training
I earned my Doctor of Traditional Naturopathy from New Eden School of Natural Health and Herbal Studies.
Lived Experience & Mentorship
My education also grew through lived experience, personal healing, motherhood and advocacy. Over the years, I have attended numerous health and wellness conferences while mentoring women and mothers navigating exhaustion, overwhelm and complex family health journeys. I also served as a mentor and co-coordinator for a national nonprofit, supporting parents and caregivers seeking deeper answers for their families.
A Whole-Person Perspective
Today, I bring together formal naturopathic education, lived experience, mentorship and a whole-person perspective to support women with compassion, curiosity and individualized guidance.
I believe healing is deeply personal.
MY APPROACH
There is no one-size-fits-all protocol, no paint-by-numbers plan and no single path that works for everyone. Each woman has a different story, a different body and a different set of needs.
At Gibbs Integrative Health, we look beneath the surface. We explore the patterns, stressors, nourishment, nervous system signals, lifestyle rhythms, emotional load and root contributors that may be shaping how you feel.
My role is to serve as a guide, educator and illuminator, helping you better understand your body’s signals and feel more empowered in your own healing process.
Life Beyond My Practice
I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Outside of my work, I’m a mother, a lifelong learner, an explorer and an earthy girl who loves good coffee, live music, books, podcasts, the beach, the mountains and basically anything that makes me feel free.
I live out in the country, where long walks through the woods and riding four-wheelers around the property are part of the natural rhythm of life. I love to laugh, dance, travel, learn, grow and find new things to experience. The mountains are where I feel most at home and music is one of my favorite ways to reset.
I’m learning to become more expansive, more regulated, more embodied and more rooted in my own needs, not perfectly but honestly. I am committed to becoming a little more whole, honest and present each day. My hope is that when you meet me, you feel like you are sitting with a real person. Someone approachable, loyal, fierce and deeply honored to walk beside you.
If you are here because you are exhausted, overwhelmed, searching or unsure where to begin,
I want you to know this :
You do not have to have it all figured out.
You do not have to carry the whole story alone.
Come in. Exhale. I see you. We can begin here.
